Pastor Charles’ Reflections:
Warning, Beware of Terrorist Groups in some church. The latest news reports are that five terrorists cell groups have been operating in many of our churches. They have been identified as: Bin Sleeping, Bin Arguin, Bin Fighting, Bin Complaining, and Bin Missin. Their leader is Lucifer Bin Working, training these groups to destroy the Body of Christ, the church. The plan is to come into the church disguised as Christians and to work within the church to discourage, disrupt, and destroy. However, there have been reports of a sixth group. A tiny cell known by the name Bin Praying is actually the only effective way to counter the terrorism force in the church. Unlike other terrorists cells, the Bin Praying team does not blend in with whoever and whatever comes along. Bin Praying does whatever is needed to uplift and encourage the Body of Christ, the church. We have noticed that the Bin Praying cell group has different characteristics than the other groups. They have Bin Watchin, Bin Waitin, Bin Fastin, and Bin Longin for their Master, Jesus Christ to return. No church is exempt! (However, you can spot them if you bin looking, and bin goin. I am so grateful as your Pastor that we have the “Bin Prayin” cell in our church ministry. May God allow your tribe to increase. Which Bin are you. I’ll see the Bin Goin’ group this Sunday, if Jesus delays His coming.

In a sermon Dr. Charles Stanley preached a couple of weeks ago he said:
1) God blesses us out of the Reserve of His Grace. God doesn’t need our money, but He wants us to be part of His work. He could speak a Word and all the needs would be met. But then we, His children would only be spectators
2) God blesses us out of His house, for through grace we are saved.
3) God blesses us out of the riches of His glory. When we respond to Him as He desires, His grace will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory by Jesus Christ. We give out of our wealth, but we should give according to His blessing to us.
4) God blesses us out of the resources of His Kingdom. How much should I give? How much do you want God to bless you?
5) God blesses us out of the reliability of His precious Word.
We just cannot out-give God.
The Season of Lent
Lent is a forty-day period before Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday (February 17, 2010) and ends on the day before Easter Day. We skip Sundays when we count the forty days, because Sundays commemorate the Resurrection. In most churches, the decorations are purple or blue, royal colors to prepare for the King.
Lent is a season of soul-searching and repentance. It is a season for reflection and taking stock. Lent originated in the very earliest days of the Church as a preparatory time for Easter, when the faithful rededicated themselves and when converts were instructed in the faith and prepared for baptism. By observing the forty days of Lent, the individual Christian imitates Jesus’ withdrawal into the wilderness for forty days. All churches that have a continuous history extending before AD 1500 observe Lent. Fasting is a spiritual discipline that does not involve starvation or dehydration. Quite often, our bodily appetites control our actions.
Sometimes we hear people say they are “giving up something for Lent” The purpose of fasting (or abstinence of something we normally do, such as watching TV or use of our cell phones or texting) is to make your bodily appetites your servant rather than your master. Because Sunday is the day of the Resurrection, we skip over Sundays when we calculate the length of Lent. Therefore, Lent always begins on Ash Wednesday, the seventh Wednesday before Easter.
We celebrate Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday during the Holy Week. Lent is a season of grief that necessarily ends with a great celebration of Easter. It is a season of sorrowful reflection which is punctuated by the Resurrection Morning of Easter Sunday.
The purpose of recognizing the different seasons in our church calendar is to relive the major events in Jesus’ life in real time. We recognize the Lent season leading up to His death and Resurrection. There are other seasons in His life (such as Advent) that are emphasized in various denominations and/or churches.
