Pastor Charles’ Reflection

“This Man Jesus” Over 2,000 years ago there was a man born contrary to the laws of nature. This Man lived in poverty and was reared in obscurity. He did not travel extensively, only once did He cross the boundary of the country in which He lived and that was during His exile in childhood to Egypt. He possessed neither wealth nor influence. His relatives were inconspicuous and had neither training nor formal education. In infancy, He startled a king, in childhood, He amazed Jewish leaders, in manhood, He ruled the course of nature, walking upon the billows as if pavement. He hushed the sea to sleep. He healed multitudes without medicine and made no exchange for His service. He never wrote a book, and yet all the libraries of the country could not hold the books that have been written about Him. He never wrote a song, and yet He has furnished the theme for more songs than all the songwriters combined. He never founded a college, but all the schools put together cannot boast of having as many students. He never practiced psychiatry and yet He has healed more broken hearts than all the doctors far and near. Names of great scientists, philosophers, and theologians have come and gone, but the name of this Man abounds more and more. Herod the Great could not destroy Him and the grave could not hold Him. His name stands highest of heavenly glory, acknowledged by angels and feared by devils. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” As the living personal Christ, the Messiah and Saviour, the Redeemer of man, here is God’s appointed sacrifice for sins. Long ago God’s divine principles were established, that “without shedding of blood there is no remission.” Today, God, in wondrous love tells us “The blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanseth us from all sin.” Jesus is the only One that has fulfilled all of the scriptures regarding the Messiah’s birth, ministry, death and resurrection. There are over 300 prophetic scriptures in the Old Testament concerning The Messiah’s incarnation, Jesus fulfilled them all. Great is the mystery of Godliness. God was manifest in the flesh in order that He might die for you. He came to earth but was rejected by the people as their king at that time. He is going to come to this earth again and then He will be accepted as not only King of the Jews, BUT AS KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Jesus lives. Time here on earth is short. Eternity is forever. Soon Jesus will return to claim His believers—I know I will be one of them because I said a simple prayer from my heart that I accepted Him as my Saviour and coming Lord,. The Bible says when you ask for forgiveness and express your knowledge that Jesus is your Saviour, the angels rejoice. “Jesus, thank you for dying for me. I want to go to heaven and live with You forever. Please forgive my sins, come into my heart, just as I am.” In Jesus name. Amen. (Copied) God loves you. Isn’t He wonderful? See you Sunday if this wonderful Saviour tarries a little longer for some of our loved ones and friends to accept Him into their hearts as Saviour. In Jesus’ Grip, Pastor Charles

2010 Season of North American Missions, March 7-14 — Theme: “Live with Urgency: Share God’s Transforming Power” God’s Word says in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also the Greek.” As we approach this week of prayer we are encouraging you to pray for North American Missions and our 5,600 missionaries who are serving in the United States, Canada and their territories. We fondly refer to this mission emphasis and offering as the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. The national goal is $70,000 million and our goal is $1,200.00. Luke 12:48 says: “...From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.” Philippians 4:19 reads: “And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Lord, all that I have comes from You. Thank you for the blessings You pour out on me. As I learn to manage what You give me, I pray that I do it responsibly and in a way that honors and glorifies You. I also pray that I grow into the one You can trust to give when You call me to do so. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Give as God has blessed you and that is all we can ask of you.

A minister received a telephone call from the IRS inquiring about the giving habits of a member of the pastor’s church. The government official said that the man had stated on his tax form that he had given $4,000 to the church the previous year. “Is that correct?” he inquired. The pastor replied, “I don’t have the records here. I would have to check on it. But I will say that if he didn’t, he will.”

Youth Fund Raiser BBQ — We will have plenty of delicious BBQ here at the church and delivered to businesses with an order of 8 or more on Friday, March 26th from 10:30 to 7:00 P.M. Eat in and carry out. The cost per plate is $8.00 and the young people and others have the tickets for you to purchase. We will have as a supporting cast— slaw, beans, rolls, tea and water. Desserts will be available for an additional cost. With that said, we need the help of as many of our church family who will take time to bake goodies, we need 8 drivers to assist in delivering plates, and if you want a whole butt, please place your order by March 21st. No butts will be sold this year unless you pre-order. The butts are $25.00 each. Call the office to place your orders for butts or a large number of plates. If no one is at the office when you call, please leave a message on our answering machine. Bryan Bogue and the youth are working hard to raise funds for their summer mission trip. (These have already committed to assist: Keith Trotter will make the BBQ sauce, Neil Dove is getting boxes to deliver the BBQ to businesses, Junior McWaters will get 400 plates, Sherry Tucker is checking with Capt. Steve’s for slaw. Others will help in getting things prepared for the big day. Bill and Ann Gordon’s brother-in-law will be cooking the BBQ again this year. Young people, please sell the tickets to coaches, teachers, friends and non-friends, merchants and whomever you are around. Let’s make this a big successful day.
