Pastor Charles’ Reflection:
“Who Wants to Be a Lamb?”
When a lamb is lost, it is really lost. It lacks the dog’s instinct of direction and the rabbit’s
suspicion of danger. When a lamb has strayed, it is not only lost; it is insensitive to being lost. And it is totally defenseless against the lurking lion or other wild animal.
Yes, there is tender beauty in the imagery of a shepherd seeking and finding a lost lamb. But who in this ingenious twenty first century wants to be cradled in the arms of a shepherd?
We are a proud people. No age nor country has ever matched our skills, according to some We span the earth and space with our flights; we wrest her secrets from her bosom.
Regardless of how smart we are, we like sheep have gone astray, and that may give us a clue of just how intelligent we are. We have wandered each in our own way. Despite our proud achievements, by ourselves either individually or together we are spiritually and morally lost. We need a great and good shepherd.
From thousands of prophetic voices as we continue in year 2010, many of the voices from within atomic laboratories, comes the warning that if we do not find such a shepherd, there is no hope for mankind. Do you suppose it is a greater tragedy for those who have found that Great Shepherd, Jesus Christ and yet, treat Him with contempt, not allowing Him to be a major part of their daily lives? Only time will tell. The great announcement of the Gospel is that such a Shepherd has been given to the earth, that He lived, died, and arose again, that He has not abandoned this planet, and that if men will cease running away from Him, His steadfast pursuit will overtake them and shelter them in His everlasting arms.
I don’t know about you, but it is a great comfort to me to know that He loves me enough to pick me up - and that would be a huge load - and carry me to safety in His everlasting arms. Lord, we all need that kind of love, assurance and compassion. I am grateful that the Lord is my Shepherd! How about you? If He is not, I can tell how He may become your Saviour and Shepherd. Call or come by my office today. See you Sunday, The Day of Resurrection!
In Jesus’ Grip, Pastor Charles
Our Special thanks to our great choir for job well done on the Easter Cantata on Sunday evening. The title of the cantata, “Then Came The Morning” and the beautiful voices of Jesus’ choir made us all feel that it could be during the service or at least this coming Sunday. Don Stafford directed the choir and the many rehearsals and the supporting cast were: Kallie Chauvez, Donna Daniels, Bill Gordon, Renee King, Jackie Massey, Junior McWaters, Devin Nance, Jerry Raxter, Ruby Shankie, Glenn Shirley, Bonnie Stafford, Eleanor Self, Roxie Trotter, and Sherry Tucker. The icing was added to the cake with five of our youngsters setting the stage for the night with Renee King leading them and Melissa Jackson assisting. The youngsters were Annsley Jackson, Drew Jackson, Maggie Grace King, Ashley King and Meredith Reeves. Thank all of you for a job well done. Doug McSwain was in the sound booth doing his usual great job. Thanks to all who supported our choir by their faith attendance. Thanks to all who brought the finger food for our fellowship. It was a great night.

Hagar the Horrible recently said in his cartoon: “Do you know the toughest thing to learn once you get out into the world?” His fellow warrior asked, “What?” Hagar then replied, as he saw the enemy coming toward them with arrows flying, “That no matter how nice a guy you are...SOME people just aren’t going to like you!”

WORDS FOR THOUGHT
Kindness is more important than wisdom, and the recognition of this is the beginning of wisdom. ~ Theodore Isaac Rubin
Life is not made up of great sacrifices and duties but of little things: in which smiles and kindness given habitually are what win and preserve the heart and secure comfort. ~ Sir Humphry Davy
A minister was asked to speak at the anniversary of the founding of a local church. Probably the most important statement the pastor made was this: Here, yesterday, today and tomorrow meet for workers who dream And dreamers who work.

Rudyard Kipling’s “If” shares some profound thoughts on maturity. The poem may be applied to an individual, church, school or nation. I like it and I hope you will enjoy reading it.
“If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, and blaming it on you; If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies, Or being hated, don’t give way to hating, And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise; If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with triumph and disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to broken, and stoop and build ‘em up with worn out tools; If you can make one heap of all your winnings, And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew to serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you except the will which says to them: ‘Hold on’; If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch; If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you; If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute with sixty second’s worth of distance run - Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And - which is more - you’ll be a Man, my son!
It has been my experience that people don’t like to admit their mistakes and when they make them, try really hard to blame it on someone else. Well, I mixed up the times for Sunday’s Cantata and am so very sorry, and I can’t find anyone else to blame, since I did it. I know it was an inconvenience and for those who missed the Cantata, Doug has the CD of it. And I also know that isn’t the same!! Anne
