Newkirk Baptist Church

God's church for today's world…

Rev Charles L Tanner

Pastor - Rev. Charles L. Tanner
Rev Tanner was initially called as Interim Pastor to Newkirk Baptist Church, and later called as full-time Pastor.  Rev. Tanner has served as pastor at various churches throughout the Carolinas.

Anne Roof

Church Secretary - Anne Roof
Anne joined the staff in April, 2003.  Anne says:
"I LOVE my job and the people at Newkirk. I have 4 children and 7 grandchildren (all perfect!). I feel very supported here at Newkirk. It gives me great joy to know that I have a small part here in the furthering of our Saviour's kingdom. It is a fun job and it gives me pleasure to learn something new now and then. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but that is not true!! God has blessed me greatly throughout my life."

Jennifer Walker

Minister of Youth
I was born & raised in Rock Hill & in church.  I accepted Christ as my Savior at a young age. But it wasn't until going to Summersalt youth camp at the age of 16 that I began to really understand what it meant to have an intimate relationship with Christ. That was also the time I realized His calling on my life to ministry, concentrating in the areas of music & children/youth.  I have been singing in church since I was old enough to talk. Since high school I have been working with children or youth in one way or another. Over the years I have taught GA's, Acteens, children's church, Sunday School & Wednesday night classes, assisted with children's choir, directed a youth choir, and led worship at a small mission church.  My husband & I have been married 11 years.  We truly believe the Lord has led us to Newkirk & cannot wait to see what all He has in store for us as we follow His direction in leading this wonderful group of young people.

Jason Adams

Minister of Music - Jason Adams
Jason was saved at age 9 while spending a week at Camp McCall Royal Ambassador camp in the mountains of Sunset, SC. He spent his childhood and youth growing and fellowshipping at Catawba Baptist church in Rock Hill. His adult life took him in and out of church and away from God until he was lead to visit Newkirk Baptist Church. "I have now found a home with a wonderful group of people. I truly love everyone at Newkirk and am thankful for the opportunity to worship and fellowship with them every chance I get."

Eleanor Self

Organist/Pianist - Eleanor Self
Eleanor considers it a privilege and honor to be at Newkirk. She says:
"I was saved at age 8 at Northside Baptist Church and met my husband, Glen, at Vacation Bible School. We've been married for over 50 years and have 5 children and 7 grandchildren. My husband was a pastor for 35 years and I became a pianist when there was no one to play for services. When my husband became disabled, I did not play for a while. Later, when Newkirk contacted me, I felt God was taking me off the shelf and allowing me to serve him again. So here I am, thanking the Lord for His blessings and favor on me.  I am also the caregiver for my husband. God is so good to us!"
